Occupational therapy and other professionals are frequently called upon to make presentations, often to clients, potential clients, administrators, community groups, colleagues, or other professionals. The ability to make an effective, professional presentation is a skill that is often learned by modeling others and/or trial and error. This one-hour online course teaches how to get your message across successfully. Areas covered include: what you need to know about the audience and context before developing the presentation content, types of presentations, formats for presentations, how to develop the content, how to develop and use visuals and Microsoft PowerPoint® to complement your message, and how to make the presentation.

Target Audience
Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, graduate students, educators, managers, and other professionals will benefit.
Completion Requirements
Upon successful completion of a multiple choice post-test, provision of a brief course evaluation and payment for this course, the participant will be awarded 0.1 AOTA CEU (1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners). The University of Florida will mail a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion and enter the contact hour into the Florida CEBroker database.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Use the concepts taught to design an effective presentation.
- Recognize the importance of physical appearance in presentations.
- Discuss the role of visuals in presentations and use Microsoft PowerPoint® slides effectively to enhance audience interest and understanding.
Learning Level
Basic. The practical, "how-to" information taught is appropriate for individuals who currently have little or basic knowledge of how to make a professional presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint® slides and who wish to learn these skills or hone those they already possess.
